YOUNGSTERS SERVE UP MUSICAL TREAT
Review by Colin Petrie

A bare stage, a spotlight and some of the best songs from the world of stage musicals and pop. These were the ingredients for a tasty review a Dundee's Gardyne Theatre last night, served up by Tread The Boards Youth Music Theatre, writes Colin Petrie.

The Spirit Of Youth producers/directors Brian and Agnes Boardman have a terrific troupe of kids from ages seven to 20 with which to work and the youngsters took their chance to belt out "greatest hits" with amazing maturity and showmanship.

An appreciative and enthusiastic audience were whisked from Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat to My Fair Lady, to Grease, Miss Saigon and Blood Brothers.

A pop highlight was a high-octane version of Meat Loaf's Bat Out Of Hell and glee and laughter abounded at the comic Brush Up Your Shakespeare.

The dilemma for this writer was whether to mention individuals. But there's simply not the room here to mention everyone and to leave some out would be unfair as each performance was praiseworthy.

All I can sat is if you want to see and hear some of the best young singers around then head to the Gardyne. The show runs until Saturday, starting at 7.30pm.
