PORTRAIT OF FEAR THRILLS AUDIENCE
Review
DUNDEE DRAMATIC Society's latest production Portait of Fear, directed by Elma Longair, opened on Saturday at the Little Theatre, writes a drama critic.
A TV crew comes to Renfield House hoping to film restless spirits that have previously appeared in the room where a murder occurred.
As Peter Sim - strongly played by Ward McGaughrin - sets up his cameras, he is angered by remarks made by house owner Sir Christopher (Jonathan Gall). Anamosity exists between them because Selena (Ruth Fraser), a successful TV presenter now married to Peter, was Sir Christopher's girlfriend in the days when all three were students.
Tricia Stewart bring realism to the character of Terri, a medium desperate to make psychic contact, while newcomer Gordon Parkes gives a delightfully droll performance as the TV cameraman Joe.
The play, which is well staged with some very creepy lighting and sound effects, runs all week until Saturday.

LITTLE THEATRE'S TENSE THRILLER
Review
A team from Crescent TV hopes to film a documentary at historic Renfield House, which has a legend of murder in the music room, writes a drama critic.
In Portrait of Fear, the latest offering from the Little Theatre, there is rancour between the owner, Sir Christopher, strongly played by Jonathan Gall, and Crescent TV team Peter Sim and partner Selena, who own the company but whose relationship is tense.
Ward McGaughrin and Ruth Fraser keep the pace going when Sir Christopher appears overly interested in Selena, a former fling betwen the two seeming to have rekindled.
Tricia Stewart gives a suave performance as Terri, the TV team's medium, who has the power to contact restless spirits.
A newcomer to the society, Gordon Parkes, keeps the ball rolling as a cameraman with a dry sense of humour and desperate longing for food.
The play, which runs until Saturday, is directed by Elma Longair. If you like a tense thriller, don't miss this one.
